The 2013 McEwen Stakes will take place under weight-for-age conditions and is open horses of all ages.

Scheduled to run as part of Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes Day, the race shares its program with the Group 2 Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes, Group 3 WH Stocks Stakes and Listed Chandler Macleod Stakes.

Snitzerland appears on track to have her first spring racing carnival start in the 2013 McEwen Stakes next month.

The four-year-old has won seven of his 14 race starts and has earned more than $1.53 million in prize money during his horse racing career.

Trainer Gerald Ryan is confident that Snitzerland will be primed for her spring return in the 2013 McEwen Stakes before a probably run in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes in October.

“Once again she will probably do most of her racing in Melbourne,” Ryan told Racing Ahead.

“This season there are four races on the agenda in the spring but she will not run in all four of them.

“I am tipping she will run in the McEwen and then the Manikato on Cox Plate eve.

“She won’t have a big season.

“We just want to get a Group 1 against her name and we will see what we do after that.”
